Five Minute Easy Summer Makeup
I will not lie to you, I am quite frankly sick and tired of this weather. In know in comparison it's only been about five minutes since the heatwave struck, but trying to live a normal life in a land without A/C is very nearly impossible. Lovely to loll around in when you have no responsibilities, not quite so great when your work is mounting up and you really need to get through it.
In that vein, I don't have the stomach for a full face of makeup right now. It's too hot to put it on, and it's too much hassle to upkeep during the day. Much better to go as minimal as possible in my humble opinion. This morning's makeup was the quickest of the lot, but I've enjoyed it so much I decided to throw this little post together detailing what I used in the hopes of giving another suffering soul a bit of #makeupinspo.
Foundation is the worst thing in the summer, so I skipped that and instead plumped for the Sanctuary Spa Illuminating Moisture Lotion SPF15. I knew I would be indoors for 90% of the day so SPF15 works just fine, and the illuminating properties (along with currently being lucky and having pretty clear skin) worked well on a base free face. To add some dimension to the cheeks, I dabbed on some of the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in Robust Rhubard and blended it in with my fingers. The formulation is so creamy and buttery that it blends like an absolute dream, and within three seconds just gives a very lovely natural hint of blush.
To round off the cheeks, I brushed some MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle, which is my current obsession for that natural, lit from within, I'm-so-healthy-I-drink-kale-and-eat-green-juice glow. To apply it (with honestly the only brush I reach for now every day), I used a Give Face Cosmetics Powder Brush. Give Face Cosmetics are a small, but extremely affordable cruelty free and vegan brand, and their brushes are on par with any of the more expensive ones I've used. Full review of them to come.
For the eyes I kept it really simple: Benefit Gimme Brow in shade 3 brushed through the eyebrows to add some colour and tame the beast without having to work too hard, and Clinique High Impact Mascara on the lashes to lengthen and darken and define the eyes slightly. I do want to look into a waterproof mascara for summer though, because I do end up with slight panda eyes after sweating all day.
Finally on the lips, my latest obsession: Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturising Lip Balm in Broadest Berry. It looks dark in the tube, but because it's a balm it just imparts a lovely sheer wash of colour, makes me look slightly more alive, and has a really comfortable formula.
And that's it! Roll out of bed, skincare, whack it on, all done and dusted in under ten minutes. What's your makeup regime in the summer? Or do you just leave all product behind in winter and deal with whatever your face wants to do?
